Sarayah Hernandez is a professional hairstylist, salon owner of East Coast Salon (located in Denville, New Jersey), founder of Beyond The Balayage, and a TRUSS Professional US Ambassador with over 10 years of industry experience. She began her career after growing up around her aunt and cousin who both were hairstylists themselves. Inspired, Hernandez began cosmetology school when she was only 16 years old, while also attending High School. After school, Sarayah has continued to self-educate as well as attend various classes with independent artists to continue to level up. She says, “I’ve perfected my techniques through the years by taking risks, trying new things and innovating techniques.”Her favorite technique is one that she coined “Coastal Balayage”...a natural lived-in color experience that provides her clients with longevity, and allows stylists to work more efficiently behind the chair and help them to create looks in a much simpler manner, while still creating a large impact. When asked why she became an educator, Sarayah says “I felt that there was a lack of simplicity in teaching and techniques that were easy to obtain. I'm always inspired to help others, elevate their career behind the chair, and make more of themselves in this industry through opportunity experiences, and knowledge. For artists just starting off, I would highly recommend putting in the work investing in your education and never staying stagnant.
